Claudio Bravo deletes Man City red card response tweet

Claudio Bravo deleted a tweet questioning the decision to send him off in Manchester City's Champions League draw with Atalanta.

Bravo was making a rare appearance as he replaced Ederson at half time when the Brazilian was substituted as a precaution with a muscle injury.

Chilean Bravo's first act was to pick the ball out of the back of his net as Atalanta equalised on 49 minutes through Mario Palasic's free header.

And Bravo was at the centre of controversy once again as he steamed out two-footed to meet a through ball being chased by Josip Ilicic and brought down the Atalanta forward around 25 yards from goal. The referee awarded a straight red card which was upheld after a VAR review.

Replays showed Ilicic had left a foot in after going past Bravo, with contact being made with the City goalkeeper's shoulder.

But Bravo was convinced there was no contact, and took to Twitter after the game to explain his actions.

Quoting a tweet criticising VAR for the decision, Bravo's reply translates as saying: "I don't need the moment, I don't even intend to hit the opponent. He hits my head with his foot, The red card is very rigorous."

The tweet was deleted not long after but he later questioned the decision again later on, this time simply commenting on the video of his tackle with a question mark.

The red card sent the game into chaos as right-back Kyle Walker was substituted on to take Bravo's place in goal and he managed to keep a clean sheet as City escaped Milan with a point.

Bravo will now miss the next the next game through suspension and if Ederon's injury ends up being serious it could result in third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson being forced to play.
