Claim for record £195m Euromillions jackpot made by UK ticket-holder

Someone has made a claim for the record £195m Euromillions jackpot which was up for grabs in last night's (July 19) draw. Camelot has confirmed that a ticket-holder based in the UK has made the claim.

The claim will now be scrutinised by a series of checks before the huge sum of money is paid out. No further information about the claimant has been issued and it will be up to the individual or syndicate whether they go public if they are deemed the winners.

Following last night's Euromillions draw, which saw the numbers 6, 23, 27, 40, 41 come out alongside Lucky Star numbers 2 and 12, it was reported that one ticket had won. The jackpot of £195,707,000 is a record, beating the previous landmark of £184m won in May by Gloucester couple Joe and Jess Thwaite.

Only 15 UK players have ever won a jackpot of £100m or more. Camelot's senior winners' adviser at the National Lottery Andy Carter described the claim as "absolutely incredible news".

He said: "Last night saw history made with the biggest-ever National Lottery prize won by a UK player, and we’re ecstatic that we’ve received a claim. Our focus is now on supporting the ticket-holder through the process and helping them start to enjoy their truly life-changing and record-breaking win."

If validated, the winner would be able to buy 11 Boeing 747 jets, 23 Pisces-VI Submarines, Southampton Football Club or a townhouse in London’s Mayfair. They would also be richer than Adele, who is reported to be worth £150m.
