A popular Dublin city centre restaurant will be forced to close for two months after a fire ripped through the premises and forced the evacuation of a nearby college.
Nobody was injured in the fire in San Lorenzo's on George's Street, but smoke damage in the premises will force the popular brunch spot to shutter the doors for the time being.
Traffic was stalled heading in and out of the city centre this evening as Dublin Fire Brigade engines rushed to the scene.
Crowds gathered outside as the fire, which also led to the evacuation of the Dublin Business School premises which occupies the same block. was brought under control.
Anthony Remedy, who runs the restaurant, tweeted this evening that everyone booked in would be contacted over the next few days.
He said: "Due to a fire earlier today in San Lorenzo's, the restaurant will be closed for more than likely 6-8 weeks.
"No one was injured but will take some time to reopen with the smoke damage.
"All bookings will be contacted over the next few days. We apologise for any inconvenience."
