Cindy Crawford shared an inspirational message to celebrate her 56th birthday, as she admitted she wished she’d been kinder to herself over the years.
Posting a black-and-white snapshot of her as a little girl on Instagram, the iconic 90s supermodel told her 6 million followers she had some wise advice for her younger self, as she reflected on her life so far.
“On the eve of another birthday, looking back at little Cindy and thinking about what I would tell her,” Cindy began.
“I would tell her to be kinder to herself, to treat herself the way she treats her friends. I would tell her everyone feels nervous in new situations and sometimes you just have to fake it ‘til you make it,” the mother-of-two added.
“I would tell her not to be afraid to make a fool of herself— dance, sing, etc more — even if she isn’t good at it. Laugh as much as possible,” the supermodel shared, as she also wished she had been more “vulnerable” in her younger years.
“Risk showing her true self to people she loves— the payoff is worth it. Practice gratitude. Keep growing and learning and becoming…life is a blessing!” Cindy concluded the empowering post.
Her famous friends, including actor Billy Baldwin, Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski and ex-supermodel Christy Turlington were among those leaving supportive comments on Cindy’s post, as well as Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna.

Cindy later shared a boomerang clip of her blowing a kiss to the camera while sitting in front of a birthday cake, and surrounded by decorations and balloons.
“Thank you for all the birthday love,” she wrote.
“Happy Birthday Cindy! There must be a picture of you aging in an attic somewhere cause you're not aging in real life!” one of her friends commented on the post.
Her daughter Kaia Gerber celebrated her mum’s birthday by sharing a black-and-white photo of Cindy.
“Happy birthday mom here’s to celebrating you every day because one day a year will never be enough. my hero forever. I love you,” the model sweetly captioned the snap, which highlighted just how strikingly similar the mother and daughter look.
