Cindy Beale's EastEnders return 'motive' rumbled by BBC viewers after shock return

EastEnders viewers claim to have 'rumbled' the reason for Cindy Beale making a shock return to the BBC soap, 25 years after being killed off in an on screen death.

The cat was let out of the bag on Michelle Collins' iconic character coming back to EastEnders by a national tabloid, much go the anger of fans, but that didn't stop millions tuning in to see it for themselves. Cindy's return is the conclusion of a storyline which has seen Albert Square newcomer George Knight searching for his missing wife and mother of his two daughters.

He even enlisted the help of Walford veteran Phil Mitchell to try and track her down and, after being told by Phil that Spanish police had no record of anyone called Rose Knight, he drowned his sorrows in the Queen Vic, desperately calling Rose's phone in the hope that she'd answer.

However, in a huge twist, 'Rose' ended up being Cindy, with cameras cutting to her on a sun lounger as she looked at her phone before taking a sip from a large glass of wine.

Cindy's long suffering ex husband Ian Beale was told by Pat Butcher in 1998 that Cindy had passed sway giving birth in prison, having been locked up for hiring a hitman to try and kill him, before fleeting the country with the couple's two sons Stephen and Peter. But it's her late daughter Lucy who many EastEnders viewers believe is the catalyst for Cindy's return to the Square, with many convinced she wants revenge on Ian's other son Bobby for killing her.

Making that judgement on Twitter, one person posted: "So is Cindy coming back to punish Bobby for killing Lucy, right?" with another tweeted: "Cindy will be after Bobby for sure for what he did to Lucy. Question is how the hell has Ian managed to keep her away from him through all of that."

Others have suggested that Cindy doesn't even know about Lucy's death and she will find out when she sets foot on her former stomping ground. Going with that theory, one viewer wrote: "I guess it all depends on how much she knows. Does she know that Ian married Laura and had Bobby? Does she even know that Lucy is dead? Does she know that Cindy Jr. has a baby?"
