Irish actor Cillian Murphy is gearing up for the upcoming Oscars 2024, where he is nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's film Oppenheimer. At the Oscar Wilde Awards, Murphy expressed his excitement for the ceremony, stating that he simply wants to enjoy the moment and have a good time.

Despite being a frontrunner for the Best Actor award after winning at the Golden Globe Awards, SAG Awards, and BAFTA Awards, Murphy remains humble and credits his colleagues for his success. He particularly praised Nolan and his Oppenheimer crew and castmates for their contributions to the film.

Reflecting on the awards season, Murphy described it as surreal, especially being in the company of renowned filmmakers whom he admired since childhood. He expressed gratitude for the recognition and described the experience as amazing and a whirlwind.

As a first-time Oscar nominee, Murphy is competing against Bradley Cooper, Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti, and Jeffrey Wright in the Best Actor category. Oppenheimer leads the nominations with 13 nods, followed by other notable films like Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon, Barbie, and American Fiction.

The 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, March 10, at 7 p.m. ET. Murphy's fans eagerly await the outcome of the ceremony and the possibility of him becoming the first Irish man to win an Oscar.
