Ciaran Coyle: GAA community pays tribute to Dungannon man

Tributes have been paid to a dedicated GAA volunteer from Co Tyrone after his death.

Ciaran Coyle, 55, was a former secretary of the Eoghan Ruadh hurling club in Dungannon and a former playing member of the Stewartstown Harps club.

In a post announcing the news of his death on Tuesday, the Dungannon club said he was centrally involved in the development of the club’s facilities in the town.

“Unfortunately, once again our club flag is raised to half mast,” Eoghan Ruadh said in a post.

“This time for a man centrally involved with us having the superb grounds we do today. A former secretary and volunteer. RIP Ciaran Coyle.”

Ciaran had been reported missing on Monday but police confirmed later that evening that they were no longer searching for the Dungannon man.

Stewartstown Harps also expressed condolences on Ciaran’s death.

“Stewartstown Harps GAC wish to express sincere condolences to the Coyle family on the sad passing of Ciaran Coyle, Dungannon,” the club said.

“Ciaran was a former youth player for the Harps, a son of former senior player and former committee member Packie Coyle, and cousin of our chairman Cathal Coyle.

“Thoughts are with Ciaran's wife Susan, his sons, his father Packie and mother Teresa, his brothers and the entire family circle.”

A former member of the Competitions Control Committee in Tyrone, the county board Ciaran was always wanting to help.

“Devastating news and such a loss to his family, his friends and his club,” Tyrone GAA said.

“Ciaran sat on the Tyrone CCC and was always wanting to help. Condolences to all on this massive loss to his community.”
