Christy Moore to lead line-up for major pilot concert

Christy Moore will headline the major Covid pilot concert in Killarney at the end of the month.

Mr Moore will be joined on the bill by fellow balladeer, Jack L.

The special concert will be an all-seated event in the INEC (Irish National Event Centre) in the Gleneagle Hotel in the Kerry town.

It is the largest concert announced to date and will take place on June 26th.

This is the same day as another event, outdoor, is scheduled for Phoenix Park in Dublin.

But no lineup has been revealed for this gig yet.

The pilots kick off with James Vincent McMorrow playing an outdoor, seated gig, in the Iveagh Gardens this Thursday, June 10th.

Other sporting events will also be piloted, including a Leinster rugby game on Friday evening, June 11th.

Minister Catherine Martin said: "It has been a long and difficult 15 months for so many musicians, artists, venue operators, crew and audiences.

"I am delighted to announce the INEC gig, which is one in a series of pilot events my Department is providing to help us move towards a wider reopening of the live events sector.

"The line-up for the evening is fantastic and will help the Government to plan for the safe management of events whilst Covid is still circulating in our communities and build confidence in the guidance and event management protocols developed to keep everyone safe.

"I am so excited that we are reopening our stages, concerts, sports, our country and I have no doubt everyone who is lucky enough to attend will have a fantastic evening.”
