Christy Moore's company records profits of well over €1million

Christy Moore’s no Ordinary Man after his company’s profits surged past the €1million mark.

The singer-songwriter, who has been performing for more than 50 years, has seen his firm Yellow Furze Limited perform exceptionally well.

In the 12 months to the end of March, it recorded profits of €290,747 – a 90% increase on gains of €152,271 logged in the previous year.

Overall accumulated profits now stand at €1.34million.

The bumper year resulted in the company’s cash pile increasing by €340,549 from €794,854 to €1.135million.

The firm’s principal activity is the sale of music performances and recordings by ex-Planxty member Moore.

It employs three people including directors.

And there is no sign of the Co Kildare man’s popularity waning with upcoming gigs in Dundalk, Dun Laoghaire, Galway and Castleblaney already sold out.

The 74-year-old’s income was boosted by his annual December and January gigs at Vicar Street in Dublin as well as a concert at The Marquee in Cork last June attended by 4,000 fans.

He played another sell-out gig at the venue on Saturday night.
