Christopher Walken introducing the Foo Fighters on SNL is still the absolute best

Comedian Nate Bargatze hosted this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live, with the iconic Foo Fighters joining as the musical guest. Christopher Walken, the quirky actor and former SNL host responsible for memorable skits like “More Cowbell” and “The Continental” made a cameo in the cold open as Papa Pumpkin.

This got some viewers wondering if his appearance on the same night as the Foo Fighters meant we’d get another perfect pronunciation of the band name. In 2003, Walken hosted the sketch comedy show with the rock band and introduced them in a promo video with the emphasis on Fighters, not Foo.

We later find out — thanks to an interview with Dave Grohl and the band — that they told him that was the way to pronounce it.
