Christmas in Dublin: When will the Grafton Street lights be turned on?

The Christmas event that everyone in Dublin looks forward to - the turning on of the Grafton Street Christmas lights - is set to happen this month.

Dublin Town, the organisation that sets up all the Christmas lights throughout the city, has told Dublin Live that a date for turning on the lights will be revealed next week.

Dublin City Council workers have been busy over the last month installing more than 150 Christmas crossovers on over 30 streets in the city.

Crews were working throughout the night, seven days a week to get the city ready for the busy Christmas period.

There was controversy over the Grafton Street Christmas lights a couple of years ago after the "Nollaig Shona Duit" lights were removed and replaced with "Welcome to Grafton Quarter".

After a public outcry on social media, the "Nollaig Shona Duit" sign was re-installed the following Christmas.

It's not only Christmas lights on the streets that signal the start of the festive period.

Pubs around Dublin have been busy getting their establishments ready for the busy period ahead.

The likes of Hole in the Wall and The Ginger Man are always a must-visit at Christmas.
