Christmas at Gibside opening times and costs as new Heart Arch attraction is unveiled ahead of launch night

A Heart Arch Walk is the latest illumination to be announced for the Christmas at Gibside attraction which is set to be be unveiled on December 1.

The sparkling addition to an already sparkling programme of attractions will be on show to first visitors when the outdoor festive trail opens in the grounds of the National Trust estate for its after-dark debut. It then will be available to book on select dates up to January 1. The Heart Arch, which has been designed by Stockton company ArtAV, promises to offer a perfect photo opportunity on the night, not least for couples who will be able to strike a romantic pose.

The new trail will have plenty more picture perfect moments along its route thanks to a range of installations including 700 metres of fairy lights; a Snowflake Park and a 36-metre-long Christmas Cathedral featuring alongside lit-up tree arches, neon flowers and a giant robin. To add to the mood, the trail will be choreographed to the sound of Christmas music.
