Christian Siriano, the renowned fashion designer, opened New York Fashion Week with a stunning runway show that was inspired by the upcoming movie 'Dune.' Although there were no sandworms in sight, Siriano successfully captured the essence of the film's desert setting with his earth tones and shimmering orange hues.

Imagining a world that is both apocalyptic and glamorous, Siriano created a collection that envisions what people would wear in a desert culture. From velvet and lace body-hugging gowns to metallic copper tones and ochre sparkle, his designs exuded elegance and sophistication. However, Siriano decided to leave behind his signature oversized peplums and spare enlarged shoulders for this particular collection.

Under the grand chandeliers at The Plaza, Siriano showcased 60 looks that were perfect for various social events, including dinner parties, cocktail nights, and galas. The collection featured a mix of men in jackets paired with earth-colored tones, while women adorned slinky gowns and tuxedo silhouettes in black and cream. The designer emphasized the importance of not forgetting the beauty when being inspired by other worlds.

Siriano expressed his admiration for the upcoming 'Dune' franchise, especially the performances of Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet. Having dressed Zendaya multiple times, he expressed his desire to dress Chalamet in the future. Interestingly, Siriano was unaware that the new movie would be released soon, making his collection's timing quite fortuitous. He joked that maybe there would be something in the show that Chalamet would appreciate.

One notable deviation from Siriano's usual style was the absence of his signature ballgowns, with only one black look making an appearance. Instead, the designer focused on showcasing a range of mini looks, including gold-shimmering outfits with pops of red. Red is currently enjoying a moment in the fashion industry, and Siriano believes that it brings a sense of nostalgia and power to any outfit. In fact, Alicia Silverstone, J. Smith-Cameron from 'Succession,' Ashlee Simpson, Sophia Bush, and Melanie Lynskey were all spotted in the front row, with Alicia Silverstone wearing a stunning red ensemble that truly stood out.

Christian Siriano's runway show was undoubtedly a success, captivating the audience with his imaginative interpretation of the desert culture depicted in 'Dune.' His collection beautifully combined glamour and apocalyptic elements, offering an array of stunning looks for various social occasions. With his keen eye for aesthetics and eye-catching designs, Siriano once again demonstrated why he is one of the industry's most exciting fashion designers.
