Christian Kirksey placed on injured reserve

For the second time in less than 18 hours, the Cleveland Browns have placed a key starter on injured reserve. Linebacker Christian Kirksey is now on IR with a chest/pectoral muscle injury suffered in Week 2.

Kirksey, the team’s defensive captain, joins tight end David Njoku on the injured reserve list. Both suffered major injuries in the Monday Night Football win over the New York Jets. He registered 11 tackles, including two TFLs, in the first two weeks.

To take Kirksey’s place on the 53-man roster, the Browns promoted Willie Harvey from the practice squad. Harvey is an undrafted rookie from Iowa State who had some positive moments in the preseason,
