Christian Eriksen transfer: Denmark boss speaks out on Tottenham exit talk

Age Hareide is confident that Christian Eriksen's performances for Denmark will not be affected by his Champions League disappointment or speculation over his future at Tottenham .

Denmark continue their bid to qualify for Euro 2020 against the Republic of Ireland on Friday evening, before they face Georgia on Monday.

Star midfielder Eriksen has met up with the squad following Spurs' 2-0 defeat against Liverpool in the Madrid final on Saturday, which saw Jurgen Klopp's side lift the European trophy for the sixth time.

And the 27-year-old has also raised questions over his future this week after admitting that he could leave the Premier League club over summer, with Real Madrid thought to be interested.

But Denmark boss Hareide insisted that Eriksen would not be distracted by speculation over his future or his European disappointment when he faces Mick McCarthy's side in Copenhagen.

"I think the best way to recover is to have a good game," said Hareide when asked about the player's response to losing in Madrid.

"If you have a good game after a disappointment you tend to get over it in a quicker way, so I think that is important for him."

He added: "I don't speak to the players about their club situations. We have a good relationship with the players and it would be a mix-up if I try to talk about that.

"I have to concentrate on the national team. Christian loves to play football and I think his focus is on that. He also loves to play for Denmark and that is the main thing for me.

"He has done well for Tottenham and we had so many special occasions [with him] playing in our side.

"But he has done his job for Tottenham and Denmark, so we have to wait and see what's happening."
