Christian Eriksen told he shares a trait with Manchester United legend Paul Scholes

Watching Christian Eriksen play reminds Louis Saha of the 'sensation' he felt when he used to play alongside Paul Scholes at Manchester United.

United made Eriksen their second signing of the summer last week when they rubber-stamped the free transfer following the Dane's departure from Brentford. The elegant playmaker made a remarkable return to football with the Bees just a few months on from suffering a cardiac arrest on the field at Euro 2020 and a string of excellent displays helped ensure the side's Premier League survival.

The 30-year-old also proved he remains a brilliant player at the highest level which inevitably attracted a heap of interest, much to Brentford's dismay. But their loss was United's gain after Erik ten Hag strengthened his midfield with the addition of Eriksen on a three-year contract.

Saha is excited by the signing and made a lofty comparison to United legend Scholes. "If he plays, his fitness has never been a problem now he's solved his scary moment in his life, he's done really well over the years of his career to facilitate every type of offensive player," the Frenchman told the Manchester Evening News, with Sky Bet Fan Hope Hub, when asked how big of a role Eriksen will play at United.

"Why? Beauce he's so smart and his decision-making is so elegant as well. Every weight of pass is well-distributed to the strikers so strikers seem to get more confidence when they get their ball in their feet, he has the kind of sensation that I had when I was playing with Paul Scholes, for example."

Saha believes Eriksen has the skill to make United's midfield tick. He continued: "A strong link in midfield, how we're going to press and score goals. He is one of the most unique players with those skills in the world. That simple.

"Yes, we may have seen some good signings with [Erling] Haaland, for sure that's for me the best one, we've some good business from Tottenham, Liverpool with [Darwin] Nunez but yes, Eriksen and everyone Ten Hag has signed as a new manager is vital for thinking this club can get back."
