Chrissy Teigen's entryway incorporates this underrated material – it's a masterclass in rustic minimalism

Chrissy teigen.

As we've been saying for some time now, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's home is a mid-century modern masterpiece. Warm neutrals reign in the entryway, which centers a bold white and natural wood staircase against a brassy-colored wall. What pulls the look all together? The polished plaster finish of the staircase.

This unexpected finish features boldly in the power couple's entryway idea as the entire railing of the staircase. The look is sophisticated, stylish, and original.

Interior design experts love the unexpected material. Jennifer Ebert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens states: 'I think polished plaster is an incredibly underrated material. We often visualize plaster as an element of industrial design, but it fits well into softer styles, like mid-century modern homes. The matte fashioning gives plaster a natural look which makes a home feel cozy and welcoming.'

When it comes to decorating with neutrals, Julio Arco, interior designer and architect at Bark and Chase says that Chrissy and John have made the perfect design choice with the combination of polished plaster and natural wood. He states: 'Utilizing texture adds an exciting dimension to these otherwise unassuming hues.'

Julio continues, 'Based on my research and experience, texture can greatly enhance the sensory experience of a space and contribute to an overall sense of comfort. Combining beige and taupe with different textures like wood, linen, or wool can give your space an interesting depth and warmth.'

Furthermore, the polished plaster of Chrissy and John's staircase are a wonderful fit with current interior design trends, according to experts. Julio Arco says that there has been a recent 'shift towards more natural and earthy tones' in neutral rooms. He continues, 'Think sandy beige, terracotta, and soft moss green, which echo the trend toward biophilic design and the desire to connect with nature.' As Jennifer mentioned, the matte texture of polished plaster gives it a natural feel, making it feel organic and earthy in line with the most popular color choices.

Chrissy Teigen's home has been one of our biggest inspirations for color trends for some time now, and the pattern doesn't show any signs of changing. A warm neutral color palette in a warm, organic material is always sure to win.
