Chris Wood injury latest: Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo issues update ahead of Everton visit

Injured: Chris Wood - (Mike Egerton/PA Wire)

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood continues to be assessed ahead of the weekend visit of Everton in the Premier League.

The striker, who has scored 18 goals in 29 Premier League games this season, has not played since last month being forced off during New Zealand's 3-0 win over New Calendonia with a suspected hip injury.

Forest have since beaten Brighton in the FA Cup, squeaked past Manchester United in the Premier League before going down 2-1 at Aston Villa.

Speaking last week, Nuno admitted the Wood’s injury is “not good” and urged patience as the club “assess him day by day”.

Since Wood’s injury, winger Anthony Elanga and fellow striker Taiwo Awoniyi have also been struck down by injury.

Asked for an update on the trio, Nuno said: “Yeah, we're still assessing all of them. They are really struggling with some problems, some small, some not so small, but we have to assesss them. We have one more day and then we can see if they can be available for the game.”

Asked if he was “hopeful” of any facing Everton, Nuno replied: “

“We're hopeful on all of them. It could be all of them, it could be none, we don’t know. It depends on how they recover and how they are feeling.”
