Chris Sutton urges Rangers to salute Celtic and 'do the right thing' at Ibrox

Chris Sutton reckons Rangers should "do the right thing" and give Celtic a guard of honour before their the game at Ibrox next week.

Neil Lennon's side sealed their eighth consecutive title with a convincing 3-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday.

And the Record Sport pundit took to social media to pile the pressure on the Ibrox side to pay their rivals a mark of respect.

Sutton wrote on Twitter: "Hopefully Rangers do the right thing and Celtic get a guard of honour at Ibrox next week."

A guard of honour usually takes place in the league winners' first game after securing a title.

But the fixture between the Glasgow side's is usually jam-packed with drama as it is without the visiting team being saluted onto the pitch.

The debate has an added level of intrigue due to Rangers skipper James Tavernier's comments in 2016 when the Ibrox side won the Championship title.

He Tweeted: "Great respect to Alloa Athletic for the guard of honour today.

"True sportsmanship unlike some."

And that has led to some Celtic supporters urging Tavernier, and his team-mates, to keep his word and salute Lennon's side before the game at Ibrox.
