Chris Sutton goads Ally McCoist over Rangers slump as he claims Celtic have Ibrox legend 'worried'

Bullish Chris Sutton has insisted Rangers and Ally McCoist are "worried" about Ange Postecoglou's Celtic revival.

After a rocky start to life in Glasgow's east end, the Australian has steered Celtic to three wins in a row and the Europa League play-off.

In contrast, Steven Gerrard has suffered three defeats in a row for the first time as Ibrox boss.

Parkhead favourite Sutton couldn't resist a dig at McCoist over the differing fortunes of the sides, and claims Postecoglou will have fans on the blue half of Glasgow worried about their Premiership hopes.

On BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra, Sutton was asked about Celtic's performances in Europe and stated: "Look at Ally's face, I can see he is really worried. The Celtic machine is getting going.

"A big win against Dundee at the weekend, the competent performances against Jablonec, home and away.

"Tom Rogic coming to the fore. Ange is doing a great, great job and Celtic love playing in front of fans, something which is clearly a problem for the team on the other side of the city.

"Everything is moving in the right direction. Celtic are coming good, and they have plenty of energy.

"It's a good start for Ange, but it's only a start."

McCoist shrugged off the barb, stating: "I don't think there is any doubt about it, big Ange has had a couple of great results.

"Against, who was it again? Whoever that was, and Dundee.

"It was some fine results for big Ange and Celtic, and lets be honest after the past couple of days our game needs a shot in the arm.

"There is still uncertainty around Celtic, for example how they are going to perform longer term, is Edouard and Christie going to stay, there are still question marks.

"That was the boost they needed, but Chris is right, two very good performances."

When asked about Joe Hart, Sutton doubled down cheekily adding: "A Celtic goalkeeper making saves – it hasn't happened for a while. Rangers, you better be worried!"
