Chris Paul praises Moses Moody’s defensive effort against the Knicks

With Andrew Wiggins out due to personal reasons, third-year wing Moses Moody has been elevated into the Golden State Warriors’ starting lineup. Despite inconsistent minutes and being in and out of the Warriors’ rotation, Moody has had back-to-back impressive performances alongside Golden State’s starters.

During the Warriors’ victory over the Knicks on Thursday, Moody tallied eight points on 3-of-9 shooting from the field with four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in 26 minutes. Moody was a key contributor in Golden State’s defensive effort that limited the Knicks to only 99 points on Thursday. Moody finished the game with a team-high +23 against the Knicks.

Following the game, Chris Paul praised Moody’s defensive performance. The veteran point guard credited Moody’s defense on Knicks All-Star guard Jalen Brunson.

Moses [Moody] did a great job. Also, the bigs — Draymond always does a great job. When you’re guarding Jalen [Brunson], it’s hard to guard him 1-on-1, it takes team defense. Moses, it was a block that he got on Jalen that rarely happens. Jalen does a great job at creating space. It’s tough guarding him for a full game. But the guys did a great job.

In his two recent spot starts, Moody is averaging 10 points on 43/.8% shooting from the field with 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 24 minutes per contest.

If Wiggins continues to miss time, the Warriors will likely continue to lean on the former first-round pick out of Arkansas.
