Chris Canty: Giants aren’t better without Odell Beckham, Landon Collins

Former New York Giants defensive lineman and current FOX Sports analyst, Chris Canty, is the latest to give his opinion on the Giants’ curious moves this past offseason.

The Super Bowl XLVI champion, appearing on the First Things First program on FOX Sports 1 on Wednesday with Cris Carter, Jenna Wolfe and Nick Wright, believes the Giants are not as talented this year as they were last year before they traded Odell Beckham Jr., Damon Harrison and allowed Landon Collins to depart via free agency.

That’s because the additions the Giants made to defray the subtraction of those players isn’t being taken into account.

Beckham was essentially traded for three players (Jabrill Peppers, Dexter Lawrence and Oshane Ximines), while Harrison was traded to the Detroit Lions for a fifth rounder that was used to trade up to select Deandre Baker.

By letting Collins walk down to Washington, the Giants are in line for a 2020 third-round compensatory selection.

Canty is correct. The Giants are less talented without those three, but no judgement can be made until all five players obtained in that trade hit the field.
