hyderabad

A technical problem developed in the helicopter flying Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to his four election rallies scheduled in the combined Mahabubnagar district on Monday afternoon. This forced the pilots to divert the chopper and land back safely at the farmhouse of the former at Erravally in Siddipet district.

According to officials of the Chief Minister’s office, Mr. Rao was scheduled to address four election rallies in combined Mahabubnagar district at Devarakadra, Gadwal, Makthal and Narayanpet. As soon as the chopper flying Mr. Rao along with former Speaker of the Assembly and MLC S. Madhusudana Chary and other took-off after 1 p.m., the pilots detected a technical snag and decided to fly it back to the base at farmhouse and landed it safely.

The officials stated that that the aviation agency made alternative arrangements by sending another helicopter in about 45 minutes time to fly the BRS chief to the scheduled public meetings. After another chopper arrived in at the farm after 2 p.m. and the security checks, Mr. Rao left for the public meetings.

Speaking at Devarakadra, Mr. Rao said he got delayed due to some technical problem developed in the helicopter he was flying in initially and nearly two hours had lapsed by the time the alternative chopper arrived to fly him there.
