Child taken to hospital after being hit by car in Ramsbottom

A child has been taken to hospital after a crash on a busy main road in Ramsbottom.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Lumb Carr Road at 3.35pm today (Sunday, December 6).

Police have since confirmed the pedestrian was a child.

They have been taken to hospital.

The extent of their injuries and further details about their age and gender have not been released by GMP.

Lumb Carr road was sealed off in both directions between the Shoulder of Mutton pub and Bolton Road West on Sunday afternoon and into the evening.

An air ambulance was spotted landing on a field in the area, which is close to Holcombe Hill and Peel Tower.

Pictures from the scene showed a large police presence in the area.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision in Lumb Carr Road, Ramsbottom at 3.35pm.

"Officers have attended. One pedestrian casualty has been taken to hospital by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service."
