Child sex abuse fight showcased in series

Child protection experts will reveal ways to stop online creeps in a new podcast series. (AAP)

Child protection experts will reveal ways to stop online creeps from committing awful crimes in a new series aimed at arming parents with knowledge.

The Australian Federal Police-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation has launched a 10-part podcast offering a rare insight into stopping child abuse and exploitation.

More than 55 experts across law enforcement, government, academia and other organisations appear on Closing The Net.

One episode speaks with the ACCCE about ways to identify victims, build and enhance technology, inform prevention initiatives and target offenders.

People who've dealt with trauma from online child sexual exploitation and abuse are featured in another.

Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said the series showcased incredible people personally touched by the issue and others who dedicated their lives to fighting crime.

"This podcast is another important initiative, starting a national conversation on this difficult topic," she said.

"Research suggests about half of Australian parents talk to their children about online safety - while this is a good start, the podcast will empower all families to have these conversations, and better protect children."
