Child, 10, found dead in plane's landing gear at Paris airport

A 10-year-old child has been found dead in the undercarriage of a plane from the Ivory Coast.

The youngster's lifeless body was found in the landing gears of the Air France plane which had travelled from Abidjan yesterday, the Mirror reports.

It is reported the child is a boy, but this has not been confirmed.

The plane, a Boeing 777, had landed at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris at around 5pm on Tuesday.

Air France said in a statement that an investigation into the death is ongoing.

In a statement, Air France said: "Air France confirms that the lifeless body of a stowaway was discovered in the well of the landing gear of the aircraft performing flight AF703 connecting Abidjan (ABJ) to Paris-Charles de Gaulle on January 7, 2020."

The journey usually takes around six hours.

Last year, the body of a stowaway was found in the garden of a house near Heathrow Airport in London after falling from an aircraft that was flying in from Kenya.

He landed inches away from a man who had been sunbathing in his garden in Clapham, South London.

The stowaway was found with a rucksack, two bottles of drink, a pair of trainers and some other small items.
