Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill questionable to return with shoulder injury

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill is questionable to return to the game with a shoulder injury.

Hill was a big part of the Jaguars’ defensive gameplan, shadowing him with their best cover man in CB Jalen Ramsey. They’ve been battling throughout the first quarter but we’ll have to wait to see more.

Hill was visibly agitated after being tackled on the sideline by Ramsey. Ramsey also shoved Hill in the neck and shoulder area after the play was over, which didn’t draw a flag. Hill popped up but slumped over on the sideline after the play ended. He spoke with Chiefs head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder about his injury before heading inside in the front of the cart. Burkholder was specifically motioning around the lower neck and shoulder blade area when talking to Hill about what the issue was.

Hill is obviously a huge part of what the Chiefs do on offense. Even when he isn’t catching the ball he’s utilized as a decoy on many plays to get the defense out of position. They’ll have to utilize Mecole Hardman in a similar way if Hill ends up missing the remainder of the game.

Sammy Watkins had a big first half for the Chiefs with much of the defensive focus on Hill and Travis Kelce. We’ll have to see if the Jaguars make adjustments and shadow Watkins now that Hill is no longer on the field.

Update:

Hill has been ruled out for the remainder of the game. It’s unclear if this is precautionary or if the injury is serious. We’ll know more once we hear from Andy Reid after the game.
