The 2021 Chicken Sandwich War is heating up with the debut of new spicy sandwiches.

Chick-fil-A announced it will offer its new Grilled Spicy Chicken Deluxe Sandwich starting Monday at participating restaurants nationwide for a limited time.

Boston Market introduces the Nashville Hot Crispy Chicken Sandwich, its first-ever crispy chicken sandwich, with a deal Monday and Tuesday.

“We know guests are looking to add more variety to their meals, especially after a year where new food experiences were limited,” Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A, said in a news release. “The Grilled Spicy Deluxe offers the spicy flavors our guests have come to know and love, now available in a grilled option.”

Chick-fil-A will offer its new Grilled Spicy Chicken Deluxe Sandwich starting Jan. 25.

Chick-fil-A said its new sandwich is the first limited-time entree to be featured on the national menu since summer 2019. The grilled chicken is marinated in a spicy seasoning and served on a toasted multigrain brioche bun with Colby-Jack cheese, lettuce and tomato. A new creamy Cilantro Lime Sauce was created specifically for the new sandwich, the company said.

Boston Market, known for its rotisserie chicken, says its new spicy, crispy sandwich is served with pickles, ranch dressing on a brioche bun. The Nashville Hot menu also includes a rotisserie chicken meal with the spicy hot sauce and a hot crispy chicken meal.

On Jan. 25-26, with the purchase of Boston Market’s new spicy sandwich and a beverage, you can get one free sandwich.

The chicken chain with 350-plus U.S. locations says it also has a new “fire-free” Crispy Chicken BLT Sandwich and Crispy Chicken with White Gravy Meal and is bringing back Chicken Marsala and Roasted Garlic & Herb Chicken for a limited time.

Kentucky Fried Chicken started to roll out its new KFC Chicken Sandwich in select markets earlier this month and said it would be available in all 4,000 U.S. locations by the end of February.

Starting Feb. 24, McDonald’s will release three new chicken sandwiches including the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with a spicy pepper sauce.

The last major chicken sandwich war was in August 2019 after Popeyes’ launched its New Orleans-style fried chicken sandwich. The chain then started a viral Twitter feud with Chick-fil-A and other restaurants.
