RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh women started their journey in the 13th Hockey India Senior Women National Hockey Championship with an emphatic win over Uttarakhand at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday. They won their opener by 5-1 goals
Dominating from the word go, Chhattisgarh’s Pooja Yadav opened the account in the sixth minute of the match to give her team a 1-0 lead. Sulochana scored the second goal for the team in the 12th minute of the match followed by the third goal came in the 15th minute of the match from Sabbi Naaz Ansari.
Anjali Mahto scored two consecutive goals in the 27th minutes to take the decisive lead in the match. Chhattisgarh will take on Jharkhand in their second match on February 21.
Bhumika Upadhyay, Varsha Sonkar, Deepa Prajapati, Gitanjali Nirmalkar, Nilima Tirkey, Rushali Kashyap, Dhaneswari Korram, Megha, Pooja Nagle, Kavita, Vaishali Arya, Asmin Khan, Damini Singh and Arzoo Gupta played crucial role in ensuring a convincing victory for Chhattisgarh.
