Chhattisgarh: Opposition BJP demands one crore each for murder victims, high-level inquiry

RAIPUR: The opposition BJP in Chhattisgarh has demanded Rs one crore each for the victims of Durg district’s Kapsada case in which a couple and their two children were brutally murdered and a high-level investigation to unearth the truth behind the incident. The mystery behind the murder can be solved only when a high-level investigation is done into the case, said the BJP.

Police are trying to claim the credit by arresting three persons, including the younger brother of victim Bholanath Yadav, in haste, but the ground reality is something else, said the leader of opposition Narayan Chandel while speaking to media on Sunday.

“I have visited the murder spot in Kumhari police station area of Durg district and talked to the parents of victim Bholanath as well as the wife and children of Kismat Yadav, younger brother of the victim. The two children of Kismat along with the children between the age group of 9 and 15 told me that their father was at home when the incident took place. According to the police, the murder took place around 8 pm on September 28. How is it possible for him to murder his brother,” questioned Chandel.

Chandel said that the flourishing illegal liquor business in the state is the main cause behind the murder. Under the influence of liquor the incident happened, he said, adding that chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, who claims to be a follower of Gandhiji, will announce a complete ban on liquor on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti today.

If the chief minister can give Rs 50 lakh each to the farmers of Lakhimpur Kheri, he can give Rs one crore each to the victim’s family who has been staying in his home district for the last 40 years, said the leader of the opposition in response to a query. The incident is a slap on the face of the state government. Durg is the home district of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and home minister Tamradhwaj Sahu. Besides, cabinet minister Guru Rudrakumar represents the constituency where this incident took place, Chandel said.

Bholanath Yadav (34), wife Naila (30), son Pramod (12) and daughter Mukta (7) were found dead with axe injuries at their house at Kapsada village under Kumhari police station limits.

The police said that the gruesome crime was found to be a fall-out of bad blood between Bholanath and his younger brother Kismat (33), the main accused.

The police also recovered Rs 7.92 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery looted by the accused from the victims’ house. Aakash Manjhi (35) and Teekam Das (49), residents of the same village, were also arrested for alleged involvement.
