Raipur: The five-day monsoon session of Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha, which begins on Monday, is expected to be stormy with the opposition gearing up to raise several issues, including the Congress poll promises of unemployment allowance and liquor prohibition.
Speaker Dr Charan Das Mahant had appealed to all the legislators about a month ago to get themselves vaccinated against Coronavirus.
While the state government is all set to bring about the first supplementary demands for fiscal 2021-22 and a couple of bills during the upcoming session, opposition parties have indicated that they will demand Covid death audit to ascertain the “actual number of people died in the state” during the first and second waves of the pandemic.
Opposition BJP circles pointed out that its legislators would also raise the phase-3 inoculation drive for people in the age group of 18-44 years, alleged supply of sub-standard quality of seeds to farmers, ‘sale of illicit liquor’, and mafia allegedly spreading its tentacles in the coal, sand, and liquor trade in the state. BJP also alleges deterioration of law and order in the state, and will try to corner the government on this.
BJP circles said its legislators could also raise the demand that the Cong government must fulfill its poll promise of providing unemployment allowance to the educated unemployed besides imposing a liquor ban as promised in the manifesto. The monsoon session will continue till July 30 with five sittings.
