Cheryl has wound down her charity after five years after money raised dropped from hundreds of thousands to just a few hundred.
The 36-year-old Call My Name singer launched her Cheryl’s Trust charity in 2015 – and saw an impressive £600,000 raised in it’s first year.
However, the amount being raised by the charity dropped to £3,150 by 2019 according to documents filed with the Charity Commission.
Chezza unveiled her charitable trust five years ago amid much fanfare and in association with The Prince’s Trust as she aimed to open a centre in Newcastle to help disadvantaged children.
The star opened the centre in 2018, with the aim stated to: “improve the conditions and life of people by advancing education and preventing poverty through advice and training”.
The Sun reports that charity has since been shut down after achieving it’s initial aims.
They claim the aim of Cheryl’s Trust was to set up the centre in Newcastle – and say it has been a success since it was officially launched following the Trust’s launch.
A source revealed to The Sun: “Cheryl gave a huge amount of time and money to the trust. But now she’s winding it down.”
While a spokesperson for the star explained to the publication that the charity had been out of action since 2017.
They said: “The specific objective of Cheryl’s Trust was to raise money to set up The Princes Trust Cheryl’s Trust Centre in 2017.
“The centre has been running successfully since then supporting disadvantaged young people in the North East.”
They added: “The charity company has been dormant since this launch, as these accounts reflect. It is not an active charity”.
The Cheryl’s Trust website is still up and running – and lists bank details for those wishing to make donations to it.
They website also has a call to action for those wanting to get involved to arrange fundraising events – suggesting: “abseils”, “skydiving”, “cake sales” and “fun runs” as ideas.
