Estevao’s first goal for Chelsea inflicted a third straight defeat on Liverpool in an entertaining Premier League fixture on Saturday. Liverpool kicked off at Stamford Bridge in second place having slipped below Arsenal following their 2-0 win over West Ham, and knew only a win would be enough to reclaim top spot heading into the October international break.
The Blues broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Moises Caicedo slipped past former Brighton team-mate Alexis Mac Allister and found the roof of the net with an unstoppable strike from long range.
Credit to Reds head coach Arne Slot as he made attacking changes early in the second half and the gamble paid off just after the hour mark when Cody Gakpo equalised from close range following a fine touch from Alexander Isak. Both sides pushed for a winner, and it was Estevao who popped up with the winning goal in the fifth minute of injury time. That is the closest the visitors have come to scoring.
Dom Smith at Stamford Bridge

17:49 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne19 min: CHANCE!
Gakpo pulls the ball back for Szoboszlai who side-foots an effort straight into Badiashile who celebrates the block.
Offside flag was raised regardless.
Dom Smith at Stamford Bridge
17:45 , Tashan Deniran-AlleynePick that one out. That is an absolute rocket from Moises Caicedo, becoming increasingly a goal threat for Chelsea. There's no chance of Mamardashvili saving it. It's reminiscent of his goal at Brentford - only better.
GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool | Moises Caicedo ‘14
17:44 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne14 min: WHAT A STRIKE!
Moises Caicedo gives Chelsea the lead with a wonderful effort from range.
Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool
17:43 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne13 min: First real sighting of Pedro Neto this afternoon and the winger overhits a cross to Garnacho having done so well to create a yard of space between himself and Kerkez.
Dom Smith at Stamford Bridge
17:42 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneChelsea playing quite well here. They're the team dominating the ball, and their passing sequences have been nice and tidy. Liverpool looking to threaten on the break, but that's not happened yet.
Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool
17:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne10 min: Chelsea coming into the game a bit more now, Fernandez clips a ball to the back post but Mamardashvili does well to claim the cross under pressure from Gusto.
Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool
17:36 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne6 min: Very good reading of the game by Caicedo to cut out Isak’s attempted pass for Mac Allister to get Chelsea on the attack.
Badiashile tries to pick out Gusto’s run but gets too much on his ball over the top.
Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool
17:34 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne4 min: Liverpool are intent on making a fast start as a cross flashes across the face of goal but neither Isak or Salah can make contact with the ball.

Slot on Wirtz decision
17:20 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneFlorian Wirtz is not in the Liverpool starting XI against Chelsea and Arne Slot has explained the thought process behind leaving the big-money summer signing on the bench.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Dutchman said: "We play a lot of games, and if you play a lot of games I think it's quite normal to see this everywhere around the world that you do sometimes change one or two players, that's what we do as well.
"You try to select the games where, before the game starts, you think it's the best fit for a particular player.
"You cannot compare the playing style of Crystal Palace with the playing style of Chelsea."

Not long now
17:15 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneKick-off at Stamford Bridge is in around 15 minutes time!

Dom Smith at Stamford Bridge
17:10 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneEnzo Maresca has just come out of the tunnel, saw his son shivering in his seat from the cold, handed him his snood to wear, and then disappeared back down the tunnel.
As it stands
17:05 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneFollowing Arsenal’s win over West Ham, Liverpool have been knocked off top spot in the Premier League table. To go into the international break leading the pack, the Reds must beat Chelsea this evening.
As for the Blues, they start the game behind Manchester United in the table but can rise to sixth with a win over the reigning champions.

Liverpool changes
16:50 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneFive changes for Liverpool and Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Alexis Mac Allister and Conor Bradley all start.
Florian Wirtz named on the bench alongside Hugo Ekitike and Federico Chiesa.
Dom Smith at Stamford Bridge
16:45 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneNot too surprising to see Reece James named in midfield. The England right-back has a track record of being deployed there in the biggest games by Enzo Maresca.
Enzo Fernandez is in attacking midfield, in the Cole Palmer position, and it will be fascinating to see how he fares further up in such a key match.
Josh Acheampong's return will please a lot of fans.
Dom Smith at Stamford Bridge
16:35 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneChelsea have named 17-year-old Landon Emenalo on the bench today.
The teenager is the son of Chelsea's former director of football Michael Emenalo.
It's just a second appearance in the squad for the youngster, after he was on the bench but did not feature in last season's 2-1 home defeat to Legia Warsaw in the Conference League.

16:12 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneEstevao, Reece James and Josh Acheampong are among the Chelsea players currently walking around the pitch before the game.
Team news coming up shortly.
Palmer meeting scheduled
16:10 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneCole Palmer is among a long list of Chelsea absentees because of an ongoing groin problem.
Palmer has since been left out of the latest England squad for upcoming games against Latvia and Wales, but Enzo Maresca has revealed a meeting regarding Chelsea’s star man is imminent.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference on Friday morning, the Italian said: “Cole is still out. We have Trev suspended. Seven or eight players out for tomorrow's game.
“I don't have any update at the moment [on Palmer]. We have a meeting this week.”

Alisson injury latest
16:05 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneArne Slot has said Alisson Becker is unlikely to return for Liverpool’s game against Manchester United after the international break.
The Brazilian goalkeeper limped off during Liverpool’s 1-0 Champions League defeat to Galatasaray in midweek, and has already been ruled out of Saturday’s Premier League clash away at Chelsea.
Furthermore, Alisson will not feature for Brazil in their upcoming friendlies against South Korea and Japan.
"Alisson is not part of the squad tomorrow and he is not going to travel to Brazil as well for the national team," Slot told reporters in the Liverpool press conference on Friday morning.
“So he will be out for Saturday.”
There had been reports that Alisson is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks. While Slot did not confirm a timeline for a return, he did all but rule the goalkeeper out of the Man United showdown on October 19.

Cucurella eyes Liverpool scalp
16:00 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneMarc Cucurella believes Liverpool’s visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday represents a “good opportunity” for Chelsea to head into the international break on the back of two wins.
Chelsea had been in disappointing form ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League group phase game against Benfica but earnt three important points as an own goal from Richard Rios helped them to a 1-0 victory against Jose Mourinho's men.
Chelsea’s final match before the October break sees them host Premier League leaders Liverpool, who come into the game in iffy form of their own, following back-to-back defeats against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray.
Cucurella hopes that Chelsea can cash in and claim all three points just as they did in the same fixture last season.

Latest scores
15:55 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneOne result and two half-time scores in the Premier League.
R: Leeds 1-2 Tottenham
Arsenal 1-0 West Ham
Manchester United 2-0 Sunderland
Predicted Liverpool XI
15:50 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneHugo Ekitike went off injured in Istanbul, but Arne Slot is optimistic the Frenchman will be involved against Chelsea.
Alexander Isak would likely have been in line to start up front against Chelsea anyway, with the British record signing and Mohamed Salah having both been named on the bench in midweek before coming on in the second half, along with Alexis Mac Allister and Conor Bradley.
Predicted Liverpool XI (4-2-3-1): Mamardashvili; Bradley, Van Dijk, Konate, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Isak

Predicted Chelsea XI
15:45 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneChelsea have eight players out for tonight’s visit of Premier League champions Liverpool.
The biggest absentee is Cole Palmer who is out until after the international break with his persistent groin injury.
Therefore, Enzo Maresca could bring Romeo Lavia into midfield and select Enzo Fernandez as a No10, pushing Joao Pedro back into the No9 role after a couple of disappointing performances by Tyrique George when deputising as a striker.
Another option is for Fernandez and Caicedo to remain midfield partners and Facundo Buonanotte to play in the No10 role behind Joao Pedro.
Predicted Chelsea XI (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; James, Acheampong, Badiashile, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Estevao, Buonanotte, Neto; Joao Pedro

Big day for Estevao
15:40 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneEstevao can help young Chelsea come of age against Liverpool
Chelsea’s brightest young star was the fall guy when Robert Sanchez got himself sent off inside five minutes at Old Trafford, but he might just get the platform to be the main man when Liverpool come to visit.
In the early weeks of the season, Estevao has already turned heads with his dazzling footwork, breathtaking pace, and incredible maturity at just 18 years of age.
But when Sanchez was dismissed in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United a fortnight ago, it was the Brazilian starlet who was hooked by Enzo Maresca as the Italian sought to shut up shop and protect the goalless scoreline — an approach that did not bear fruit.
Chelsea must grow up now, after three red cards in their last four games, and their way of doing so might just mean heaping responsibility upon the shoulders of their youngest player.

Chelsea vs Liverpool prediction
15:20 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneThis is an intriguing fixture, purely because both sides are desperate for a win.
Liverpool have proven inconsistent this season. They are continuing to score at an impressive rate, but have developed a knack for giving up leads.
Chelsea themselves are far from perfect, but if there is one thing they can do well, it is fight. They showed against Benfica their ability to win ugly, dragging out a gritty 1-0 win despite not being at their glittering best.
If they can do the same at the Bridge, they stand a good chance of coming away with a result.
Chelsea to win, 2-1
Liverpool team news: Alisson injured
15:15 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneLiverpool will be without first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker because of a hamstring injury sustained in the loss to Galatasaray on Tuesday night.
As a result, Giorgi Mamardashvili will deputise in between the sticks, thus making his Premier League debut.
Hugo Ekitike and Federico Chiesa are doubtful for the Reds.

Chelsea team news: EIGHT missing
15:10 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneChelsea have Trevoh Chalobah unavailable as he serves a suspension following his red card in the 3-1 defeat by Brighton.
Chalobah’s ban has compounded the shortage of centre-backs caused by injuries to Tosin Adarabioyo and Levi Colwill and the need for Wesley Fofana to observe the 12-day concussion protocol.
That means Enzo Maresca has only Benoit Badiashile and 19-year-old pair Josh Acheampong and Jorrel Hato to choose from as he decides on a centre-back pairing to try and stop Liverpool.
