Chelsea transfer news and rumours: £70m Wesley Fofana price; Wilfried Zaha targeted and Harry Kane latest

Thomas Tuchel has called for more signings at Chelsea this summer

Despite the signings of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, it’d be fair to say Chelsea have endured a frustrating summer transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel has been rather open about his feelings heading towards the new season and the fact top target Jules Kounde is closing in on a move to Barcelona will not do much to lighten his mood.

After a 4-0 loss to Arsenal in Orlando, the German made an “urgent appeal” for more quality and, with an awful lot of the window yet to play out, Chelsea continue to be linked with big names.

Here’s a look at a few of them

Wesley Fofana

With Kounde close to Barcelona, Wesley Fofana is thought to be Chelsea’s new target in their bid to strengthen the backline.

Fofana enjoyed an excellent debut campaign in the Premier League before a broken leg derailed his progress at the King Power Stadium. While a key player for Brendan Rodgers, Leicester reportedly need to sell before they can buy.

The Daily Mail claim the Leicester star is of interest, while CBS Sports suggest the defender could cost up to £70m.

Wilfried Zaha

The Crystal Palace star is the subject of frequent transfer links, though this summer could be different.

While the issue has always been that Palace could demand huge money given their star man’s contractual situation, Zaha will be a free agent in the summer of 2023.

That, according to Foot Mercato, has prompted Chelsea’s interest.

Harry Kane

It’s difficult to imagine Harry Kane swapping Tottenham for Chelsea, although the England captain is another whose dwindling contract could help open up such a controversial avenue.

While Kane’s situation is not quite as pressing as Zaha’s given the 28-year-old has two years to run, Chelsea are considering a move for the striker should he enter the final year of his deal.

They, however, realise Bayern Munich are far more likely a destination should he leave Spurs given Chelsea’s history with their London rivals.
