Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham eyeing quick return against Aston Villa after hip injury

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is hopeful of returning to action against Aston Villa this week, having been sorely missed in Saturday’s defeat to West Ham.

The 22-year-old, who watched from the stands as Aaron Cresswell’s goal consigned Frank Lampard’s side to back-to-back Premier League defeats, suffered a hip injury against Valencia last week but has made a quick recovery and could be involved on Wednesday.

Olivier Giroud made just a second League start of the season in Abraham's place against the Hammers and looked well off the pace, leaving Chelsea far less of a threat going forward.

Chelsea have been much more dangerous on the road than at Stamford Bridge this season, something they are keen to rectify.

“We’ve wanted to do much better at home this season,” said Christian Pulisic.

“Our away form has been great, but at times at home it has been tougher. We’ve had some good games but it is just about the fact that we want to do it in front of our fans as well.

"We want results wherever we play.”
