Chelsea star Ross Barkley fulfils 'dream' of scoring against Liverpool in FA Cup

Ross Barkley has revealed how he fulfilled a 'dream' by scoring against Liverpool for Chelsea.

Frank Lampard’s side advanced into the FA Cup quarter-finals as Liverpool suffered their second successive defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Already leading through Willian’s first half strike, Barkley sealed his side’s passage into the last eight when he scored a fine solo effort just after the hour mark.

The midfielder joined the Stamford Bridge club from Everton in January 2018 for a fee believed to be around the £15million mark.

A boyhood Everton fan, Barkley looked delighted after scoring and spoke post-match about why the goal meant that little bit more to him.

“Yeah brilliant a massive result for the lads,” he told the BBC.“After two disappointing performances we needed a top performance today and that was a great team performance.

Before adding: “Yeah of course scoring against Liverpool for me is massive, supporting Everton and playing for Everton it is always a dream to score against Liverpool.

“Not only that but we are into the next round at that is the main thing.”
