Chelsea scout makes huge Mason Mount claim that Blues’ fans will love

Mason Mount has had a breakthrough season at Stamford Bridge having established himself as one of Frank Lampard’s firm first-choice players.

The midfielder only made his Blues debut at the start of the season, scoring his first goal for the club in just his second appearance in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

He has gone from strength to strength since making his debut and has even broken into Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Mount has been with Chelsea since the age of six having made his way through the youth teams at Cobham and the scout who first spotted him has highlighted the area of his game that made him stand out even at a tender age.

The latest on Chelsea's out of contract stars

"The thing that stood out to me every time I watched Mason was his aggression," Blues youth scout Rob Winzar told BBC Sport .

"His determination is second to none. Fantastic attitude. He's the best I've seen in all the years I've done it.

"I've seen lots and lots of good players and Mason is the best."

Mount is one of a number of academy graduates to make the step up to the first team under Frank Lampard this season alongside Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James.

He has made 41 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea so far this season, scoring six goals and providing five assists.

The 21-year-old will be hoping to continue to impress at club level in order to secure a place in the England squad ahead of the rearranged European Championships next summer.
