Chelsea news: Mauricio Pochettino pressure grows after scathing review of Frank Lampard

It's been a long time since Chelsea experienced a season like this.

The Blues are 12th in the Premier League table and could fall another two places if results go against them this weekend. Chelsea travel to Bournemouth on Saturday and will be leapfrogged by the Cherries if they suffer a seventh consecutive defeat. The club have lost every single game since Frank Lampard was re-appointed as manager last month.

Yet it's not all bad news for Chelsea. They are nine points ahead of Nottingham Forest in 18th - the final relegation spot - with a game in hand. Unless something dramatic happens, the Blues should survive the drop. Here are the latest headlines from Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino latest

Tottenham have been urged to re-appointed Mauricio Pochettino as manager. The Argentinian is the favourite for the Chelsea job, but chair Todd Boehly may need to act quickly if he's to get his man. Spurs are also on the hunt for a new permanent boss.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Tottenham legend Ricky Villa pleaded: "Pochettino, come back! We need Pochettino back managing the team."

Villa added: "If he has another offer then he has to make a decision. But I think he has a little chance to come back to Spurs again."

Villa went on to say: "I would [tell him to come to Tottenham rather than Chelsea], but it is not my decision. It is the decision of the chairman. But we will find out next week what happens - if he accepts Chelsea or waits for the club [Tottenham]."

Chelsea squad review

Boehly and his recruitment team will take a close look at the first-team squad this summer to distinguish which players should leave Stamford Bridge. Mirror Football's Will Freeman believes 10 stars are in danger of either being sold or loaned out.

Those in danger of saying goodbye to the Blues include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic. But what about Romelu Lukaku? The Belgian's loan spell at Inter Milan expires in the summer and Boehly will need to make a decision on his future.

Lampard under fire

Former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom, who played under Lampard at Derby, has given a scathing assessment of the Chelsea boss. Speaking on The Beautiful Game podcast, he said: "His [Lampard's] job is his job, all the best to him. I don't have no bad vibes to him.

"If he was sat here would I speak to him? Nah. What is the other guy called? Jody Morris. I just didn't rate them. They're just not my type of people. On a night out I'd probably get into a fight with them."

On his experience of playing under Lampard, Wisdom added: "My experience was weird. It didn't feel like I was at football. I think what kind of threw me was the fact it was Frank Lampard. I don't want it to be misinterpreted but it was not like I was in awe.

"I think I expected something that I wasn't getting. I just expected more from him as a man... I've had one manager scream at me during my career and it was Lampard."
