Chelsea news: Benjamin Sesko makes transfer decision as Thomas Tuchel demands signings

Though they defeated Everton on the opening day of their Premier League season, Chelsea are still looking to add to Thomas Tuchel's squad.

One potential target is Benjamin Sesko, with Timo Werner appearing to be increasingly likely to return to RB Leipzig. But Red Bull Salzburg are keen to keep hold of the 19-year-old, who has now reportedly made a decision on his future in Austria.

Sesko's decision comes as Tuchel demanded the Blues make more signings and Jamie Redknapp was slammed for making a huge gaffe when praising Thiago Silva. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Chelsea news.

Sesko's decision on future

Chelsea's move for Benjamin Sesko appears to be dead in the water after the striker reportedly opted to stay at Red Bull Salzburg.

Sesko has starred in the Austrian Bundesliga and has been attracting interest from both the Blues and Manchester United. The former are seeking for new recruits in attack, with Romelu Lukaku having joined Inter Milan and Timo Werner on his way to Leipzig.

But Salzburg are keen to keep him at the Red Bull Arena and they have now been handed a huge boost to those hopes. That is because Sesko has reportedly come to a decision on where his immediate future lies.

Redknapp makes Silva gaffe

Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp hailed Thiago Silva following his performance in the win over Everton.

But Redknapp made a criticial mistake when praising the Brazilian as one of the best defenders in the world. His error led to him being blasted on social media by Blues fans, who were left furious.

Redknapp had claimed that Silva had never won the Champions League, despite him starting the 2021 final in which Chelsea defeated Manchester City. And that provoked a furious backlash from Blues followers.

Tuchel demands more signings

Thomas Tuchel has demanded Chelsea make more signings before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Blues have added five players so far, with Marc Cucurella joining Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukweumena and Gabriel Slonina at Stamford Bridge. But that has not satisfied Tuchel, who has asked for more arrivals.

The German was speaking after the Blues win over Everton, in which Tuchel's men looked far from their best. And the Blues boss believes more signings are needed before the end of the window.
