Chelsea make Achraf Hakimi transfer decision as perfect Erling Haaland alternative is revealed

Here's all the news from around Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Sule blow

Thomas Tuchel's hopes of strengthening his central defensive options with the addition of Bayern Munich's Niklas Sule this summer have suffered a major blow.

According to a report by German publication Sport Bild, as cited by the Daily Mail, Bayern want to keep hold of the German at least until the summer of 2023.

The 25-year-old is only under contract until next summer, meaning Bayern run the risk of losing him at a reduced price this summer, or, potentially, losing him for free once he enters the last six months of his current deal.

For several months Chelsea have been linked with signing the Germany international, as Tuchel sees his fellow countryman as an ideal candidate to bolster his defensive options and gradually bring down the age of his centre-back options.

Sule was in and out of the team under former Bayern boss Hansi Flick during the 2020/21 campaign, meaning it remains unclear just how he will fit into new manager Julian Nagelsmann's plans for next season.

Haaland alternative

Chelsea are working to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund but whether they can agree a deal, which will set them back more than £200million in transfer fees and wages, with the Bundesliga side remains to be seen.

The good news, according to The Telegraph, is the striker is open to a move to Stamford Bridge this summer or next.

And in 12 months' time, Haaland will be available for a fee between £65m and £86m due to a release clause in his contract at the Signal Iduna Park.

So what happens if Chelsea can't sign Haaland this summer?

Well, perhaps Tuchel places his full trust in Kai Havertz to lead Chelsea attack after last summer's £72m signing showed he is capable of thriving in the 'false 9' role.

If Tuchel goes down this route, it means the Blues already have the perfect Haaland alternative in their ranks.

Hakimi hope

According to Thursday's edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea are going to make one, last 'desperate' attempt to try and sign Achraf Hakimi.

Recent reports have stated that the Inter Milan star is on the brink of joining PSG, but it is claimed that Blues are not yet giving up.

Chelsea are set to offer Inter €55m plus Marcos Alonso, which they say totals €65m.

However, it is possible that they could offer £65m straight up.
