Chelsea lead Barcelona in race to sign Leeds United's Raphinha with Liverpool out the picture

Chelsea are leading the race to sign Leeds Untied winger Raphinha, according to the latest reports.

Footballtransfers.com claims the Blues are ahead of Spanish giants Barcelona in the race to sign the Brazilian and could get him for as little as €25million.

However, that would only be the case if Leeds were to be relegated to the Championship, which at the minute seems the only possibility of Raphinha leaving with the Whites determined to keep hold of their star man, while the player has shown no desire to leave.

The reports adds Raphinha has two clauses in his contract, the current release clause in his contract standing at €75million.

A bid around that figure would mean the Whites have no option but to sell their star winger, at a considerable profit if they ensure Premier League survival. Chelsea have reportedly held talks with Raphinha's r epresentatives and the Brazilian international is said to be open to a move to the European champions.

The 25-year-old's contract runs until the summer of 2024 and the Blues are yet to make an official approach, but Marina Granovskaia is keen to make the deal happen. Barcelona are also keen on signing the Whites star, but any deal would be dependant on whether they qualify for next season's Champions League.

Raphinha is seen as a replacement for outgoing Ousmane Dembele, who is set to leave the Nou Camp on a free transfer this summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool are also among the clubs keeping an eye on the winger, who Leeds have no intention of selling.

Raphinha joined Leeds from Rennes for €20m in the summer of 2020 and has scored 15 goals and notched 11 assists in 52 games for the club.
