Chelsea hero Cesc Fabregas makes Liverpool admission after 2-0 win

Chelsea hero Cesc Fabregas made an admission about Liverpool’s 2-0 win over his former side.

The Blues were holding the Premier League champions in a competitive game before Andreas Christensen was sent off and Kepa Arrizabalaga’s error allowed Sadio Mane to grab a brace.

It was the Senegalese international’s first two goals of the season as he looks to better last season’s total of 22 in all competitions.

Despite his free-scoring form and 12 assists, the 28-year-old missed out on the Player of the Year awards to Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne.

But Fabregas, who won two Premier League honours at Stamford Bridge, has made a big claim about the Liverpool forward after his brace.

Speaking on his Twitter channel, the Spaniard wrote: “I’ll say it again. Mane, best player in the league.”

It comes as Klopp also heaped praise on the forward for his part in a “perfect day” for the Premier League champions.

While Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville picked out a trait in the forward for praise after scoring his second goal.

Speaking during the match, the former Manchester United man said: "Well we'll admire to start with, Sadio Mane. He is an exceptional talent but his work rate is equally exceptional.

"He presses, he harasses, he does everything you would want a football player to do on the ball and off the ball.

"He gives the ball away. And look at that reaction to given the ball away; the anger, the anticipation. Forget Kepa we know he takes a chance.

"Mane knows he takes a chance. It's brilliant from the Liverpool forward."

Liverpool’s No.10 was not the only one to impress, though, as Thiago Alcantara made an impact on his debut.

The Spaniard only played the second half for his new side – but it was enough to break a Premier League record.

Both Mane and Thiago featured in the five talking points Mirror Sport picked out from Chelsea ’s defeat to the Premier League champions.
