Chelsea handed Miralem Pjanic boost as Barcelona make transfer decision

Miralem Pjanic has only been a Barcelona player for nine months but his time at the club looks set to come to an end this summer with the player unhappy with his game time for the Catalan club.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina star has failed to settle at Barcelona under the management of Ronald Koeman and despite having three years left on his deal and a £345 million buy-out clause the midfielder is set to depart in the next transfer window.

With both the club and player wanting an end to his stay at the Camp Nou the fee required for his services will be nowhere near the buy-out clause and a much more reasonable deal should not be too difficult to strike.

Chelsea's Stars Performance Under Thomas Tuchel Graded

Particularly as Barcelona, according to reports, are in financial difficulties and need to sell players before they can add any new signings.

Chelsea were reported to be considering bringing Pjanic to the club last summer before his move to Barcelona and their interest may once again be piqued on hearing of his availability this summer. Especially if the reports from Italy that former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is set to return to Napoli and wants to bring Jorginho with him.

Pjanic's unhappiness stems at Barcelona stems from his lack of game time in recent months, something he was reprimanded by Koeman or expressing in the Italian press.

The midfielder has not started a Barcelona match since the beginning of February and he has not completed a full 90 minutes since early December.

He only played 24 minutes across the two legs against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last-16 tie a clear sign he is not a player Koeman feels he can rely on in the big games.

According to Spanish journalist, Javi Miguel Pjanic has been a disappointment to Koeman with the reporter claiming that the 29-year-old "is on Barça's list of departures because he is insignificant" to the club.

With Koeman already lining up Liverpool's Gini Wijnaldum as his replacement Pjanic is set to find a new home this summer.
