Chelsea fans will love what Marcos Alonso said about Spurs and names the ex-star he'd have back

Marcos Alonso has named his stunning free-kick against Tottenham Hotspur as his favourite goal as a Chelsea player.

The 29-year-old has been with the Blues since Antonio Conte’s first season as boss, when the club went on to win the 2016/17 Premier League title.

As the Italian’s left wing-back, Alonso had a real eye for goal, netting six Premier League goals in his debut season, and then bagging another seven in the following campaign.

But the game where Chelsea fans will always remember the Spaniard was on August 20, 2017 when the Blues played against Spurs at Wembley.

Alan Smith's full Chelsea Q&A

Alonso netted a brace in the 2-1 victory over the London rivals, and his first was a wonderful free-kick over the wall.

His second was late in the game as he squeezed a shot under Hugo Lloris right in front of the away fans.

And his first strike has turned into the player’s favourite goal while being with the Blues.

“Best goal? It is hard to pick one, but I would have to say the free-kick at Wembley against Spurs,” Alonso said in a Q&A session on Chelsea’s Instagram page.

“Yes, I think everyone will agree.”

Like all the Chelsea players, Alonso has been staying at home as the country and world try to fight against the coronavirus disease.

As part of his Q&A session, Alonso was asked several questions, including his favourite basketball team, football idol and toughest players he has faced.

He also was asked which former player he would want back at Chelsea, and the left-back would want his fellow Spaniard back.

“The beast himself, and my good friend, Diego Costa,” Alonso added.
