What ‘Project Big Picture’ could mean for Chelsea and Roman Abramovich
The ‘Project Big Picture’ plans proposed by Liverpool and Manchester United could have a big impact on Chelsea should the Premier League be overhauled.
According to the Telegraph, Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Groups, with support from Manchester United, have produced a document which, if passed, could see the Premier League drop to 18 clubs and abolish the Carabao Cup and the Community Shield.
Under the proposals, 25% of the Premier League’s annual revenue would go to EFL clubs, although parachute payments to relegated teams would be scrapped. The distraction of TV revenue would also be altered.
The changes would see Chelsea, as a member of the so-called ‘Big Six,’ given more control. The Blues would be able to vote on takeovers of other clubs and would see them break away financially from the rest.
Roy Keane hits out at Chelsea youngster for behaviour in international
Former Manchester United midfielder and TV pundit Roy Keane has criticised on-loan Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu for his behaviour in the 0-0 draw between Republic of Ireland and Wales.
Ampadu, who is on loan at Sheffield United from Chelsea this season, went down inside the area after half an hour, with the youngster also going down despite minimal contact after an incident involving opposition goalkeeper Darren Randolph.
Keane singled out Ampadu for criticism, stating he would be embarrassed were he in that situation. “Just disgraceful, really,” the former Republic of Ireland international said on ITV Sport when asked for his reaction.
“This Ampadu, like, what's the game coming to? He should be ashamed of himself, grabbing his head. I'd be embarrassed if I was him. Ridiculous.”
Out-of-favour Chelsea left back admits season ‘not going as I would like’
Emerson Palmieri has admitted to Rai Sport (via Sempre Inter) that this season “has not been going as I would like,” with the Italian left back falling down the pecking order at Chelsea following the signing of Ben Chilwell.
The 26-year-old had been linked with a move to Inter during the summer window, with Antonio Conte reportedly keen to be reunited with Emerson at the San Siro, but a transfer failed to materialise.
“When I arrived here I change mentally, I felt I was an important player and part of the group,” Emerson told the Italian broadcaster when asked about his experience at Stamford Bridge.
“At the beginning of the season it has not been going as I would like, I just have to work and when I am on the pitch I think about doing my best.”
