Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he believes Angel Gomes will leave when his contract at Old Trafford expires.
The 19-year-old sees his deal with United expire on Tuesday evening and the club have failed to agree fresh terms with the highly-rated teenager.
United refused to negotiate a short-term extension until the end of the season with Gomes and will only be entitled to a compensation fee if he moves to another club.
The forward rejected United's initial offer earlier this season and has been left unconvinced by his prospect of regular first-team football at the club.
Now, with time running out, Solskjaer has admitted he expects to see Gomes leave this week, opening the door for Chelsea and other clubs to swoop.
"Got no news, nothing. So doesn't look like it. To be honest, I've not heard from them last night or this morning, it seems like they haven't managed to agree so the answer is probably short and yes, then," he told our sister site MEN Sport when asked if Gomes will leave.
Barcelona have reportedly tracked Gomes for over a year and could enter the hunt for Gomes, who was ousted from the first-team fold at Old Trafford for almost three months amid the dispute over his future.
