Highly-rated Chelsea defender Genesis Antwi has signed a new three-year contract with an option for a further two years.
Enzo Maresca handed the 18-year-old right-back his first-team debut last season with a pair of appearances in Conference League wins over Copenhagen and Djurgardens.
He was linked with a move to BlueCo sister club Strasbourg in the summer transfer window, but a deal did not materialise.
Speaking after the Djurgardens match, Maresca said Antwi was progressing well: “We try always to give them chances when they deserve. For part of the season he was working with us when we needed him.
“We call him and he works with us. He’s doing well with the U21s, and also he’s doing well when we call him, so we are happy to give him the chance.”
Antwi appeared again for the first team in a pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen, setting up Joao Pedro to score Chelsea’s second in a 2-0 win.

He has continued to star in the club’s youth ranks this season, too, scoring Chelsea’s opener in a 3-2 UEFA Youth League win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Born in Stockholm, Antwi is a regular in Sweden youth setups, having also represented England as a U16.
The defender, who signed his first professional deal in September 2024, has climbed steadily through the ranks of Chelsea’s Cobham academy since joining as an Under-12.
He will hope to step up his first-team involvement this season, and may be called upon to provide cover for Reece James or Malo Gusto at right-back.
