OpenAI seems to be gearing up to launch some new features in ChatGPT. Recently, an X user named Tibor Blaho found two internal features codenamed “Tatertot” and “n7jupd” on the ChatGPT web app. Though not yet visible to users, these updates indicate that OpenAI is working on new ways to handle tasks, interact with APIs, and improve how users engage with tools inside ChatGPT. Here’s everything you need to know about:
What Do Tatertot and n7jupd Do?

According to Blaho, both features appear connected to an operator-style tool system. The n7jupd tool includes a system prompt that says “Describe a task”, with internal messages like “Checking available APIs,” “Reading API documentation,” and “Reading {source}.” This hints that ChatGPT may soon be able to read, understand, and use APIs to help users perform specific actions.

On the other hand, the Tatertot feature seems to focus on improving the user interface. It’s tied to system hints like tool suggestions that appear while writing prompts (such as “Create an image”). It also includes an in-context upsell banner, similar to the “Try Codex” prompt for developers, and an intake form announcement, likely for alpha or beta testing. Another function, follow-ups, seems to offer automatic next-step suggestions after a response.
Android Beta Also Mentions’ Computer Tool’ Features
The recent ChatGPT Android beta (version 1.2025.175) includes code referring to “computer tool” actions like clicking and performing actions. This indicates that OpenAI may also be planning to extend task automation or system-level features to mobile users.
The changes were first spotted by X user @M1Astra, who found references to these new features in the beta app’s code.
That’s not all. The company recently introduced two new API models, o3-deep-research and o4-mini-deep-research, which help with complex questions by combining reasoning with web search.
OpenAI has also launched webhooks, which allow apps to get automatic updates from the API. Apart from that, for developers using the ChatGPT macOS app, OpenAI added support for editing code directly from inside IDEs.
