Charlton fans’ trust angry over Championship ‘eviction’ if season decided on points-per-game

Charlton Supporters’ Trust have said relegating the Addicks on a points-per-game basis would amount to an “eviction” from the Championship and called for the EFL to make no decisions until the league’s multiple misconduct investigations are complete.

The EFL on Thursday announced that the season should be decided by unweighted points-per-game (PPG) if a majority of clubs vote not to continue next week, with promotion and relegation from all three divisions maintained.

That would see the Addicks make an immediate return to League One.

The EFL are investigating Charlton’s takeover by East Street Investments in January. Majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer is yet to prove funds to the League or inject money into the club. Manager Lee Bowyer has said relegating Charlton by PPG would “kill our club”.

CAST said in a statement: “If one more match was played and Charlton beat Hull, then Hull would be relegated. Both clubs entered a competition of 46 games and would have played 38. That is not relegation. That is eviction.

"The EFL are investigating four clubs for misconduct and these investigations should be concluded before relegation decisions are reached.”
