Charlotte Crosby admits she’s had ‘awful time’ battling with image after becoming new mum

Charlotte Crosby has revealed she is having an “awful time” experiencing body image issues as a new mother.

The Geordie Shore star, 32, and her partner Jake Ankers welcomed their daughter Alba-Jean in October.

Crosby has since admitted to having low self-esteem over her appearance, and shared in December that she dissolved her lip fillers, which had swollen after pregnancy, as she felt looked “too ridiculous”.

Opening up about her image concerns, Crosby told OK! magazine: "When you have a baby, your body changes and you have these battles with your image.

"It’s an awful time. Dissolving my lips at that point was not a good idea, but I couldn’t have walked around with them that big. It was a Catch-22."

The mum-of-one expressed her regret in having her fillers removed as she is “struggling to come to terms” with how she looks now and doesn’t “feel confident in front of cameras” anymore.

“Getting [my lips] dissolved is not worth how I feel. I feel self-conscious and it’s not nice to feel like that,” Crosby continued.

Despite her image issues, Crosby described her body as an “amazing thing” following the birth of her daughter, back in January.

The reality star has been open with fans about the image problems she has struggled with these past few months, along with prenatal depression she had before the arrival of her daughter.

Speaking about the tough period, Crosby said: “It was a down feeling I’ve never experienced before. It wasn’t just crying, that’s hormonal. Being depressed is like totally going within yourself - you can’t even speak, let alone cry. It’s a strange feeling.

“I couldn’t string a sentence together; I couldn’t hold a conversation. My head was not in being around people, being chatty. Jake left one day because he felt like he didn’t want to be around me because I was no company.”

Fans got to see Crosby’s pregnancy journey on her latest reality TV series Charlotte in Sunderland.

Though she’s admitted to having personal difficulties, Crosby recently described being a new mum as the "best job".

She said on Steph’s Packed Lunch: "I absolutely love it; this is by far the best job I have ever had in my whole entire life - there’s no feeling like it."
